1. Visiting Hobart

On Monday, I got to meet the folks at Hobart Corp in Troy - the makers of those super hot mixers that I’ve been painting for the last few months. I dig the old school quality of those things, so when they invited me down to visit, I was pretty pumped.

I hung with some old friends in Dayton over the weekend, and headed into the Hobart office on Monday afternoon. Man, they have some super vintage stuff in there. Original scales from the early 1900s, crazy meat grinders, all sorts of things. They took me over to their 3rd floor, where they keep the relics. See the sweet shots I took. It’s a very cool warehouse vibe.

Anyway, they had seen the mixers I’ve been painting, and they had a very cool idea. They will give me the old mixers that come to them for repairs, whatever, and I can paint them however I like, then put them up on eBay. They’ll slide me a little cash for my time and expenses then the full purchase price goes to charity. To me, sounds like an awesome way to promote my custom biz, and it gets their name some cool points too.

I’m actually starting the donation with the sale of a couple I started already. Should be up on ebay next week. So, watch for that coming up soon.

I’ve been so lucky to get support of friends and strangers for these new art pieces. Thanks to everybody.

About Me

putting art in the kitchen and playing with my food. I've been all over the country, starting when I was a kid. I like to paint and cook, and my girlfriend says I have an unnatural attraction to vintage kitchen appliances. © Hobart
